President and Chief Executive Officer

Russell Currie was born and raised in British Columbia. Russell's education is extensive. He studied the Aquatic Specialist Program (Camosun College, Victoria, BC); the Recreation Administration Program (Malaspina University College, Nanaimo, BC); Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Performance (University of Oregon); Master of Science (Texas A&M University); and, finally, a PhD in Recreation Resources Development (Texas A&M University).

Russell then returned to Canada, as a professor in the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism at Lakehead University. During his time at Lakehead University Russell researched and published several articles in the leading tourism academic journals, presented at international conferences and universities in Canada, United States and Australia, and was Vice-President for the American Marketing Association (Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure).

In the spring of 1999, Russell decided to leave academics to apply his knowledge in the business world, and, along with Sean Hunt, founded TravelActive.com. Through Russell's entrepreneurial spirit, experience, research skills, information and networking, he brings to TravelActive.com the leadership necessary to capitalize on unique and profitable opportunities. Since March 1999 Russell has served as President and CEO of TravelActive.com.

Sean Hunt,

Sean Hunt is from Sarnia, Ontario. Having an entrepreneurial spirit since secondary school, he has always had a keen interest in technology. In 1995 the Internet, websites and email were very much in their infancy. The advent of the worldwide web had just occurred and the population of web users had not yet reached commonplace status. At this time, Sean began what would become a rewarding career in new media, before "dot-com" was a household word.

During his studies at Sault College (Parks, Recreation and Tourism) and Lakehead University (the School of Outdoor Recreation Parks & Tourism and Geography), Sean recognized a lucrative niche to be filled: combining web development and tourism.

Sean created Ecoworks Outreach Technologies, and designed and maintained innovative websites, and online marketing initiatives, for more than 20 clients including tourism operators, equipment manufacturers, and park agencies at the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels. Sean has been called upon to contribute and participate in the development of online projects, including: Land's End Clothing Company in partnership with National Geographic, the National Heritage Rivers Secretariat, and Canadian River Management Society, the Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society, The National Marine Conservation Areas Planning Committee, Wabakimi Provincial Park, and the Northern Currents 2000 Expedition through AdventureJournal.com.

Since March 1999, Sean has served as Secretary and CIO of TravelActive.com, and is responsible for the technical development and administration of the company. Through his wealth of experience and diversified skills, Sean brings to TravelActive.com the ability to both exploit the potential of today's technology, as well as seize the opportunities afforded by new developments online.

Rob Douglas holds a Bachelor's degree in economics (University of Toronto) and is a chartered accountant by profession. He has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and has a wealth of experience in owning and managing private businesses. Rob's business career spans more than two decades, with employment experience ranging from investment counseling, with a major Canadian brokerage, to senior financial management with a large, multi-plant manufacturing company.

Since 1978, Rob has pursued interests as an owner and partner in several successful private businesses. With overall responsibility for managing business, Rob has developed strong skills in strategic planning, business plan execution, process analysis and human resource development. Rob currently holds equity positions in several early-stage growth companies. He provides management advisory services to these organizations and sits as a member on their Board of Directors.

Since November 2000, Rob has been the CFO of TravelActive.com. With his extensive experience, Rob oversees the financial administration and operation of TravelActive.com.
